Contributions and legacy of the ancient egyptians
The Ancient Egyptians made many contributions to the world we live in today. For example they had a large impact on medical fields. They created pain killers to stop pain after an injury. They also created anesthetics. Along with that they also helped in the dental field. They created dental bridges, dental bridges are what is used if you ever have a really big gap between two teeth. The Ancient Egyptians also created splints for broken bones, so they could heal properly and not incorrectly.
Another contribution and idea of the ancient Egyptians was the idea of writing on paper. Even though the Egyptians did not use paper, they used a similar material. They used a reed called papyrus to make sheets that were written on. The reed was cut into strips, pressed together, pounded, and then left to dry to created these sheets.
The ancient Egyptian also left a legacy of being fantastic builders. They built many pyramids, like the Great Pyramid of Giza, that still stand today. Some of the temples that they constructed still stand today, too.
They also developed a legacy of preserving their dead with mummies. The ancient Egyptians preserved their dead by removing their organs, embalming them, wrapping them in linen, and dehydrating them with salt. These mummies were then placed in sarcophagi and buried in tombs.
The final legacy of ancient Egypt is their form of writing, hieroglyphics. This writing was used in many places such as scribe school, the fields, tombs, the army, government, and temples. Writing was used to communicate between leaders while in battle. In temples, the writing was used to show the pharaoh’s respect for the gods and goddesses. The hieroglyphics were used by scribes to count the number of crops or animals in the fields. Writing was utilized in tombs to write spells that would help the person get into the afterlife. In scribe school, scribes were taught to read and write hieroglyphics. The government kept records about the country using hieroglyphics.
